The poster is finished and has been revised for 4 times based on others’ input. Now it’s time to print it out with HD quality printer. Thanks for QUT Printing Service, they help me, they even say that this design is fantastic. But I need to convert it to JPEG as my design is still in PNG format that cannot be read by the machine in QPS.
2 hours later, it’s done! And I feel amazed with the result!

Group Meeting - New Poster Design
The group meeting we do have today is mainly discuss about the poster. As the poster that we have is a bit crab, I propose that we should redo the design and I am volunteering myself to do it. But, because this is a group work, I distribute task to everyone to do a part as it is mention in the Design Thinking handout that telling us the criteria and specification for the poster. Well, it works. But still I am gonna spend few days to finish it up! Ganbate!

Week 12 - Peer Critique #!@$$^$%#$@#!#$#$%$%&*
We have mock presentation and peer critique session. Well, I think our group is among the best group in the class. It seems that we do have preparation compared to other group. Feeling blessed here!
However when the time for make peer critique.. I am confused as team that I am gonna make critique is so fast. They even only perform for 2 minutes and 40 seconds! That the girl that I am gonna criticize is only speaks for 10 seconds! Crazy! What can I say about her? What a …... ?!@!$#$#)^#$)%(@)
Then I told her that she should extend her performance. Not just 10 seconds! Peer critique delivered.

We met again to start practicing and see the result of the poster. Well.. the pitch rehearsal seems promising but I don’t know why I feel nervous. Group Meeting - Planning
In this meeting we share our parts to the big group to have a big picture of all the stuff for the pitch from the beginning to the end.
First, we put all our part together in the Google docs and we edit it from there. Then we start practice it. To see the flow. We have homework now.. to find high resolution pictures for PPT as a pitch background. After that one of the fellow volunteering himself that he is trying to make a poster.. well.. that’s awesome!

Group Meeting @ Skype
Solution: SKYPE chat.
As we have use Skype and Google drive a lot for discussion, we agree that some of us who have conversation should discuss their script with SKYPE and it works. Thank God!!!
They are all great member.. perhaps one of my best group work ever in my life. It reminds me back 12 years ago when I have a great team when I was in university in my home country. Well.. I feel amazed :-D

Week 11 - Group Meeting #5 : A movie director wanna be… :LOL
Today we start thinking about our next step. Start by thinking the last part: Poster and the pitch! Not much brainstorming today. We just think what the pitch / role play will be looks like. We start to think the mini-drama and the character choice in the drama. Once we agree with the flow, we give everyone time to think about their speech. Good idea!
But hold on.. some of us perhaps will not work well.. as it will involve conversation. But it’s too late, we already at home tonight. Well.. the solution is SKYPE chat.

Group Meeting #4 - Stuck & Confuse
Today’s meeting is suck for me. We don’t comes up with the next step. We are stuck and discuss what we have discussed on the previous week. However, we list that we have 3 ideas:
- A business model: The idea is to let someone (supposedly RACQ Staff) to drive you in-between rest areas, so you can rest during the trip.
- An app that can detect fatigue and give alert to the driver
- Our previous idea: A rest area with unique services, such as free drink, car wash, etc. Focusing on the user-experience.

Group meeting #3 - Panic Mode
Panic…Today, I tell my group about the week left for us for the pitch. It makes me worry as all assignments will due at the same week. We should make it works one week ahead so that we can do our assignment as smooth as possible.
Anyway, in this group meeting I propose that we should have slogan and logo for our theme. And we vote from several slogan variants we could brainstorm at that time. Well, I simply to choose 2 out of 8. Funny, but it works. LOL
However, I am still bit worry as this group is separated in two sub group. A half of us wanna do the app solution, where the rest wanna have physical environment and user experience. I think I am gonna persuade them a bit radically next time. Hmmm….

An accidentally Interview moment
I met a lady in campus. She is the representative of Medibank insurance. I met her as I want to upgrade my OSHC to family OSHC (Sorry for Out Of Topic… LOL).
Anyway, once the OSHC upgrade is done, I start comment on her leave some days ago. And she start telling me about her journey… (it’s an AHA moment for me). Then I try to gain information about her journey. Her driving experience etc.
There I found that she is traveling for journey. It is a very long journey from Brisbane to Sydney. In fact, she stopped due to several reason: toilet, food, and local interest like park, exhibition, etc.
Well, I’ll bring this thing to my group discussion later :D

Group meeting #2
In our group meeting today, we did brainstorming about which part of team should focus on either to increase usage area or to reduce fatigue of the driver as the approach will be different. Anyway I made discussion with the blue hat man in my group that I prefer a solution with nothing to do with app in this design challenge 2 as app has already been done in DC1. Let see if I can persuade them.. :LOL
Anyway in the discussion we share our finding about fatigue and reason of why people stop during the journey. This inspire me to talk to Australian native person to know about this. Hey, I am gonna meet an Australian person tomorrow. Let see if I can have something from her. Hopefully.

Week 8 - Lecture about solutions for Design Challenge 2
New lesson learn…
Today, Cara gives us samples and insight many approach ways to solve the DC2. Fantastic!
Possible Solutions for Design Challenge 2 can bein 4 ways:
1. Physical Environment, e.g.: UMPQUA Bank
2. Business Process & Model, e.g.: TESCO (Korean Woolworths)
3. Market Segment, e.g. : (PS + xBox) vs Nintendo Wii
4. IT-enabled, e.g.: kate spade NEW YORK
From those solutions, the UMPQUA example is so amazing for me. In just 10 years this local bank can increase it asset at $140 million in 1996 to $6 billion in 2006. It’s fantastic. Find out more info on YouTube. They are super duper great example of improvement. Feel amazed.

First Group Settlement
As our group take the RACQ idea, we know start to think task about RACQ, “How to increase the usage of rest area to decrease the number of accident caused by fatigue”. It is hard challenging for me and my team as none of us is experience with Australian culture on the road and all of us are new comer. However, in the discussion we agree that there were two main things to approach the problem, those were usage of rest area and driving fatigue.
In the discussion we have several idea to solve the problem:
1. System to help drivers locate rest area
2. Model that can be used to transport sharing
3. An app that can detect fatigue and give alert to the driver
However, many questions come up, such as how much budget RACQ wants to invest, whether app is the right solution, what the poster looks like. These three things confuse us as this idea is not yet clearly explained. Some of us thing that solution should be an app. Different to them, I think the solution not an app. But how to persuade them becomes my issue now. Let see….

week 7 - lecture with Cara Wrigley
Today I have lecture class with a new pretty lecturer J. Dr. Cara Wrigley.
During this class, she introduced the concept of Design Led
Innovation (DLI). This concept teaches us about the combination of Right Brain
and the Left Brain. She also mentioned 3 challenges for DC2 which are RACQ,
Australian Post and Australian Red Cross.
It’s funtastic, gonna be challenge though. Pretty lecture,
new challenge… Awesome!!!

Video clip story building and recording session [Group Meeting]
Now we meet again for group work to make a video clip. An idea that we should have when we do the mock-presentation and peer critique session. However, due to some circumstances, we just be able to do it now. No worries, as long as everybody is active. Still….. Make everyone to be active is my focus when leading this team :P
We discuss about the script for a while and it seems some of them are stubborn... again... stubborn (or perhaps “lola” / low loading / needs to process information slowly). Then I ask them to discuss first in their language and culture. It seems one of them, a bold guy, is good at leading the Chinese discussion. So, I let them having 10 minutes discussion. After that, I challenge the idea and we come to a good result. Everyone is agree. Script is made and let’s roll the camera. “Get Set”, “Camera rolling”, “Action!”.
Feels great here. Wkwkkwkwkwkwk

Improving our presentation based on peer review feedback
We have just got feedback about our presentation from peer mates in the tutorial session. However, I feel lucky because my presentation is fantastic, even I got feedback from my lecture. (I got his paperwork result). It seems that our group presentation needs improvement in some parts. This time we decide to distribute task to make our presentation gets future for our next real presentation. We have to meet in few days. They are getting “active” now, even one of them seems refuse to improve his PPT part (just to make little animation in the slide. He seems to underestimate what need to be done. So, I said to him… “OK, I’ll do it for you. Just see what your page looks like later”.
I still don’t get it. Why there’s such student like that, feeling always right, refuse to do a simple thing even looks like underestimate it by showing his “exhale” expression. Guess… “He can’t do it because he doesn’t have ability” or just simply thinking “it’s worthless”? I don’t know. What I know is that he says that my work on his part is good, even better than his. What a life. Wkwkwkkwkwk

This is the day when we gather after we re-settled. Now everyone has their parts and seems better compare to condition when we are five. It seems that they are now more cooperative and trying to be more active. We, then, practicing about how to present our part in class for tomorrow. Getting better hopefully. Let’s see.

group meeting- resettlement and reassignment
This is the first meeting we have after Seymour quit from the group. Now, I am the oldest among others. The first thing that I need to settle with others, those Chinese persons, is to motivate them and to make them understand that language and culture should not be a barrier of communication and speak their idea. I ask them to promise to be actively involved in group discussion.
After that we discuss about reassignment of every person. We discuss the steps of what we need to prepare and agree to meet again in few days to give the result. I even ask them to get active even in their language. For me, it is okay since talk and discuss with them is bit difficult seems they are stubborn with their idea. I just remember what my ex-supervisor ever told me about handling with difficult person. The idea is that we are not supposed to force our idea, but it is better for us to use their idea so that they feel important. Well, that’s what I do now. Now, I am their coach. Sometimes guide them, provide trigger, but sometimes give order by saying “Can you do that?” when I distribute the task :)

Shocking News: He's Quit
He told me that the reason he dropped this unit is because there are many assignment that he must deal with for 4 unit this semester. (Genuine reason? Tell yourself). I am shocked and feel disappointed. I feel alone since The communication for the moment is mostly just me and Seymour who are really active in the group.
The fact that the group is now consist of 4 members. I have to tell the other group members and get settled as soon as possible to catch up the app challenge 1.

4th Lecture & Tutorial
I feel bit terrible because I have to spend more than 20 minutes to gather everyone's idea so that we can show it to the tutor during tutorial session. I am really sorry for that and promised it won't happen again.
One thing that I haven’t feel about my team is that the performance is decreasing and they only do as it is (very minimal). It’s still strange for me. I still don’t know what to do to make the group more active. I think my lecture feels something wrong with my group. He said “What’s wrong” for several times and I feel ashamed.

Google Hangout Meeting
Yeah.. Now we can try to use technology to meet each other.
Today we use Google Hangout to have group meeting. Still.. the result is.. "we are stuck with new ideas". It seems we have done a new idea. However, we still have to do further. Looking for inspiration... GANBATE!!!!!

2nd Lecture & Tutorial Class: What a... :'(
In this 2nd week meeting we have already made our group designs.

I feel bad. The first rejection during the course.. I feel terrible. However, the life must go on, so we do. Get another designs! Mash-up design!
However, during our mock presentation to our lecture, our idea seems not working.
So.. we are asked to make new designs.
One note.. This time I feel terrible, not only because of the rejection, but also some of our friends insist to just working in their app, not to gain more ideas. How can I handle it?

1st week Lecture & Tutorial Class: Get Engaged !
Today lecture class introduced about what design thinking for IT is.
Basically, it gave introduction about how the design which particularly for IT.
The tutorial class, moreover, was funtastic! (Fun + Fantastic). We began with the group engagement and introduce each other. It was a big challenge as members of my group came from different nationalities. One is native Australia, one is from Taiwan, two are from China, and me who is from Indonesia.

The first task is Marshmallow Challenge. Here, our tutor gave us a marshmallow, 20 sticks of spaghetti, 30cm of yard tape and 1 m of yard string. We were in competition to other groups to build highest structure in just 10 minutes. It was a challenge for us as we should build as high as possible structure with limited resources, but the structure should be also strong enough to support the marshmallow on the top of the structure.
And here is the result:

Unfortunately, we did it in 10min 20 seconds, which means 20 seconds behind the schedule. However, in this session I feel great. Get engaged with other members who are funtastic! Look forward for next sessions...
