This is the first meeting we have after Seymour quit from the group. Now, I am the oldest among others. The first thing that I need to settle with others, those Chinese persons, is to motivate them and to make them understand that language and culture should not be a barrier of communication and speak their idea. I ask them to promise to be actively involved in group discussion.
After that we discuss about reassignment of every person. We discuss the steps of what we need to prepare and agree to meet again in few days to give the result. I even ask them to get active even in their language. For me, it is okay since talk and discuss with them is bit difficult seems they are stubborn with their idea. I just remember what my ex-supervisor ever told me about handling with difficult person. The idea is that we are not supposed to force our idea, but it is better for us to use their idea so that they feel important. Well, that’s what I do now. Now, I am their coach. Sometimes guide them, provide trigger, but sometimes give order by saying “Can you do that?” when I distribute the task :)
